Despite our advances as a country, young men of color continue to face significant challenges. Currently 54% of African American men graduate from high school, compared to more than 75% of their peers. Lacking a high school education o en leads to elevated poverty and unemployment rates in the African American community.

The Save Our Sons (SOS) program seeks to help economically disadvantaged African American men living in Ferguson and surrounding North St. Louis County communities nd jobs and have the opportunity to earn livable wages.

Created as a result of the Ferguson Crisis, SOS is supported by: AT&T, Wells Fargo, Monsanto, Emerson, Anheuser-Busch, Regions Bank, Regional Business Council, Ameren, St. Louis County NAACP, Macy’s, Grainger, Reliance Bank and many other organizations

Michael Roberts, Jamie Dennis, Michael P. McMillan, National Recording Artist-John Legend, Mack Caldwel,  Marcus Allen, Darryl Jones, II and Michelle Norris at the St. Louis County Urban League Outreach Center.

VOLUNTEER SPEAKERS

Be the change you want to see in your community. Join the movement to help

our unemployed and underemployed
African American men secure economic self-sufficiency. The Urban League of  Metropolitan St. Louis seeks caring,

talented,  giving individuals to help carry  out the agency’s mission and goals.  Without volunteers, the Urban League would be far more limited in what it can

do for our  community.
